HSB INDUSTRY REVIEW & COMMENT (HSB IRC)

This is being distributed for public comment only.
When a policy passes the HSB balloting process, it is posted on the HSB Announcements web page for 30 days as an HSB IRC, and notifications are sent to the industry.
Anyone can download, review, and provide technical comments to the HSB Chair.

All comments are considered by the HSB.

 

IRC260610 - HSB Special Case Policy (draft) is open for comments from the Industry

PPI TR-2 and TR-3 policies are continually being refined and improved. Even still, situations may arise that are not clearly addressed in the policy language. In those cases, PPI TR-2 and TR-3 provide a way for a Listing Holder to make a Special Case presentation to the HSB.

The HSB Special Policy was written to describe the process and requirements for a Special Case to be brought to the HSB. Once this policy publishes, it will be incorporated as a new Part A.1.5 in PPI TR-3.

COMMUNICATIONS

  • 2024 versions of PPI TR-2, PPI TR-3 and PPI TR-4 posted are available to download (see KEY DOCUMENTS on this web page).

PROPOSED POLICIES

  • PPI TR-2 Packages Substitution Policy: This project is reactivated.  The new policy builds from the PPI TR-2 Packages Initial Listing Policy (see HSB IRC below) and the HSB Industry Announcement of September 9, 2021.
  • PPI TR-2 Part B.2 Grid Format:  This project converted Part B.2 to a grid format that includes policy language.  Discussions underway to finalize clarification of the number of hydrostatic stress data test lots for the different listing scenarios; the required cell class testing for the test lots and harmonization of the test formulation with the PPI TR-2 Packages Initial Listing Policy (see HSB IRC below).
  • PPI TR-2 Calcium Stearate Joint Industry Project (JIP):  This project is reactivated.  The JIP task group is scheduled to convene March 14, 2024 to continue review and discussion of PPI TR-2 Part A.2 Calcium Stearate Predefined Properties Policy.  Discussions focus on the predefined properties for neat calcium stearate and the packages with calcium stearate. This project leverages the PPI TR-2 Packages Initial Listing Policy (see HSB IRC below).
  • PPI TR-3 Polypropylene Initial Listing Policy: BALLOT2 closed.  Comments and negatives are being addressed in preparation of BALLOT3.
  • PPI TR-3 Composite Policy Part K (PDB):  Four completed composite projects are leveraged into this new PPI TR-3 policy section.  The policies include existing and new language focused on General Composite Policies and Pressure Design Basis (PDB) composite structures.  BALLOT1 is anticipated to release in March 2024.
