COMMUNICATIONS

• The 2023 versions of PPI TR-2, PPI TR-3 and PPI TR-4 are being prepared. The industry will receive notifications when the documents post to the PPI web page.
• 2023 invoices are being prepared. Distribution is anticipated to be next month (April 2023).

PROPOSED POLICIES

• PPI TR-2 Packages Initial Listing Policy: Comments/ negatives received on the last ballot are addressed. The draft policy is prepared for a fourth ballot. Release is anticipated in Q2.
•  PPI TR-3 Polyamide Initial Listing Policy: The PPI HSB learned of additional industry work relating to PA. This work pertains to the development of PA reference curves by ISO TC138 SC5 WG5. The PPI HSB is discussing the potential to review the work when it becomes available.
• PPI TR-3 Polypropylene Initial Listing Policy: The TG met multiple times and revised the draft policy to reflect the discussions as well as publicly available technical information and input from the industry. A second ballot is anticipated in Q2.
• PPI TR-4 Material Designation Codes/ Classifications: PPI TR-4 includes a summary of the ASTM thermoplastic pipe material designations codes and ISO classifications. Work is underway to reflect those currently used in the industry. A third ballot is anticipated in Q2.

INDUSTRY REVIEW & COMMENT (HSB IRC)

• PPI TR-3 PEX 0.63 DF Policy (draft): UPDATE: The majority of comments received on the HSB IRC are addressed. Revisions are underway to address the remaining comments. These pertain to the language requiring specific chlorine and UV resistance. When this work completes, the disposition of the HSB IRC will be communicated to the industry (i.e., whether the draft policy passes the HSB IRC step or alternatively, if a new HSB letter ballot is required). Additionally, responses will be sent to those who submitted comments for consideration.
• PPI TR-3 Submittal Packet Requirements (draft) (*formerly Failure Mode Reporting): NEW: The project scope expanded to all submittal packet requirements including the failure modes of the pipe specimens.
• This draft policy completed the PPI HSB letter balloting process and is available for industry review and comment. The policy is posted for a minimum of 30-days. If you have comments/ thoughts, fill out the template and send to Sarah Patterson via [email protected]. The PPI HSB will review and address the comments. • PPI TR-2 CaZn Heat Stabilizer Policy: NEW: The draft policy introduces listing requirements for calcium zinc (CaZn) heat stabilizers in the PPI PVC Range Composition (range composition). The draft policy specifically proposes definitions for organotin and CaZn stabilizers; includes mention of CaZn stabilizers in Section II Introductions; differentiates the term “heat stabilizer” for the two types; clarifies the listing process for CaZn stabilizers; includes mention of some considerations when using CaZn stabilizers in a range composition formulation; redefines the existing heat stabilizer table specifically for organotin (now Table 2.1) and introduces a new listing table for CaZn heat stabilizers (Table 2.2). Additionally, language is proposed for PPI TR-3, which clarifies existing policies in regards to CaZn heat stabilizers.
• This draft policy completed the PPI HSB letter balloting process and is available for industry review and comment. The policy is posted for a minimum of 30-days.
