Corrugated Plastic Pipe
Corrugated Plastic Pipe
To champion the advancement of corrugated polyolefin pipe in stormwater management, sewer and drainage applications by serving as the premier educational and technical information resource.
Drainage is a Division of the Plastics Pipe Institute Inc. (PPI). PPI is the major North American manufacturers’ trade association of advocacy and education for plastics use in pipe, conduit and infrastructure solutions. This Association includes manufacturers, raw material suppliers, equipment distributors, designers and manufacturers of equipment, and others involved in the production and application of corrugated plastic pipe used for the conveyance of stormwater and drainage from commercial, agricultural, residential, recreational and sanitation applications.
The Drainage Division provides drainage and water systems management solutions and includes members who focus on gravity flow drainage applications. Pipe materials covered within the Drainage Division are polyolefin: high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and polypropylene (PP).
This new century of stormwater technology is not written in concrete. Municipalities and public agencies recognize that the future of stormwater management needs to utilize solutions that are reliable, proven, cost-effective, and provide a superior environmental solution.
Over the past several years the specification and use of dual wall corrugated plastic pipe for stormwater management has increased dramatically based on its superior attributes: the pipe's strength and durability, joint integrity and long-term cost-effectiveness.
Corrugated plastic pipe is manufactured from the highest quality materials and is the most technologically advanced product available to move stormwater, and wastewater.
Corrugated plastic pipe is the proven, reliable, cost-effective and safe solution for your long-term drainage needs.
Across the nation, underground infrastructure continues to deteriorate and fail. The strength, durability and longevity of corrugated plastic pipe is proving to be the material of choice over traditional concrete or steel pipe.
Corrugated plastic pipe has been proven to be reliable and safe. It has a lower carbon footprint from cradle to grave than traditional materials. Plus, it is a cost-effective solution for the simplest to the most complex drainage needs.
HDPE corrugated pipe is a flexible pipe system that performs well in both high and low cover applications. Its unique ability to support and distribute live and dead loads enables it to meet almost every installation condition.
A variety of joining systems are available to meet the need of the application, from soil tight to water tight. Leak resistant joints mean that what's inside the pipe stays inside the pipe, and what's outside stays outside. This ensures that communities, citizens, ground water and wildlife are safer and more secure. Soil tight connections are commonly used providing an economical and effective means of joining pipe and fittings.
HDPE and polypropylene are two of the most chemically inert of all plastics; they are extremely resistant to chemicals, corrosion and abrasion. These characteristics give corrugated plastic pipe a significant long-term advantage over concrete and metal pipe.
HDPE pipe is light and flexible, and is manufactured in long lengths. This can add up to significant installation cost savings.
With HDPE's resistance to abrasion and to chemicals, its life-cycle savings over alternative drainage materials are significant. Users can expect a minimum service life of 100 years in typical drainage applications.
